CONSTRUCTION: The projects selected by Chinese officials exceed 16.5 billion EUR

The highways Braşov - Sibiu and Sibiu - Piteşti, the airport infrastructure of the capital, the development of the Constanța harbour and other maritime harbours of Danube, the high-speed rail between the border with Hungary - Bucharest - Constanţa and several energy projects were selected by the Beijing government officials for investments, following the second meeting of the Chinese - Romanian Advisory Committee for infrastructure construction, which took place at the end of last year. The total value of the 11 projects, chosen from the list of objectives proposed by the Executive representatives of our country reach more than 16.5 billion EUR, of which 11 billion EUR for the high-speed rail trak and nearly 5 billion EUR for the Brașov - Sibiu – Pitești highway(238 kilometers). It is also important to note that, in addition to the projects presented by the Romanian part (43 goals totaling 25 billion EUR), the delegation from China expressed their interest for harbour works in Constanța, the bridge between Brăila and Galați as well as the Tarniţa - Lăpuşteşti hydropower. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Economy from Calea Victoriei nr. 152, in the context of the need to implement the documents signed during the recent visit of the Prime Minister of China at a regional economic forum in Bucharest. The meeting was attended by officials of the Romanian Government (MDRAP, MT, ME, CNADNR, CFR), of the private business environment, of the banks, as well as from APMCR, ARACO and PSC, respectively Chinese officials, including the President of the Chinese Association of Construction Entrepreneurs – Diao Chunhe and officials of Chinese corporations such as China Communications Construction Company Ltd., China State Construction Engineering Corporation Ltd., Sinohydro Group Ltd., International Engineering Ltd., China Gezhouba Group Corporation, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. and China Road & Bridge Corporation. Along with the political messages, an important point of the meeting was represented by the presentation of the list of projects selected by the Chinese part for construction works in the road infrastructure sector.
